I’m at the point in my life where I’m not sure if I ironically enjoy things or just straight up regular enjoy them and I think I don’t care either way. I don’t care if people think I’m lame for enjoying things that I enjoy.
I was just looking up Karl Urban on wikipedia and apparently he’s from New Zealand! And I was like ‘He’s Australian!?’ and I felt like when people declare someone gay even tho they literally just said they’re bisexual
On the subject of female badasses who just ARE and they're not badass because they've been through some trauma, what about Starbuck from Battlestar Galactica? Cigar smoking, ass kicking and the BEST / bravest / cleverest fighter pilot on the fleet. But also not typcast to be a lesbian (like only gay girls are badasses and straight girls can't be) and has like a totes adorbs boyf etc?
I still haven’t seen new Battlestar Galactica! I was kind of a fan of reruns of the original series so I’m kinda… vaguely putting it off.
Don’t get me wrong, I adore Ripley, but she never chooses to be in the position she’s in. She does what most female tough heroine ladies do, which is find herself in a shitty situation and adapts.
Which is fine and I’ll take it
but what I truly adore is when a female character just shows up, pre-badassified. She doesn’t have a thing happen and then transforms, she just IS a tough awesome megababe.
We never see the REASON John McClane is a badass, he just is one. I want a lady McClane. I want her to show up and be instantly awesome without the movie explaining why she is like that instead of quietly looking after some babies or shopping for cereal.
That’s what I want! I want a woman who chooses to be badass, not one who is forced to be due to circumstances beyond her control!
A few examples off the top of my head: Sif, Private Vasquez (though if they had a backstory (they’re both pretty minor characters) I’m sure it’d end up being some tragic thing that pushed them into becoming tough ladies because there has to be a sad reason for any female character to do anything non-feminine), Mallory Kane in Haywire (a movie no one has seen)…
why do people reblog things that seem implausible without doing a simple google search first? Just google it and you’ll find that it’s bullshit. Always google it. Just google everything you goddamn idiot apes.
